Introduction
In the previous study, we saw the spectacular connection between Isaiah 55:11 and John 6:38, in which it becomes evident that the verse in Isaiah is a wonderful prophecy fulfilled in the passage of John. In this study, we will analyze another reference to our Messiah.
The Word of Jehovah
By the word of the Jehovah the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth
Psalm 33:6
In this passage, the Hebrew expression used for “the word of the Jehovah” is none other than “The Davar of Jehovah,” which is equal to “The Word of Jehovah.” Wonderful! Let’s see how the translation would look with this fascinating finding.
By the Word of Jehovah the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
Psalm 33:6
Doesn’t this agree with what John 1:1-3 says?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:1-3
The Breath of His Mouth
But there’s even more. Where have we seen the expression “the breath of His mouth” before?
“So shall My Davar be that goeth forth out of My mouth; He shall not return unto Me empty but He shall do that which I please, and He shall accomplish the purpose whereto I sent Him.”
Isaiah 55:11
Thus, John confirms what David says in the psalm. It was through the Messiah that the Father created everything. At the same time, in Isaiah, we can verify that the “breath of the mouth of God” is none other than the “Word of God” Himself, our Savior Jesus the Messiah. Holy and worthy is our God who reveals His word to us.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Colossians 1:16
